accessibility statement

SpotHOA targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We've built semantic HTML, visible focus, keyboard reflow, and meaningful alt text into the product, and we know where the gaps are (data tables, some form error announcements). Tell us when you hit a barrier and we'll work with you on a fix or an accommodation.
01 Our commitment
SpotHOA aims to make small self-managed HOA tools usable for every board member and resident, including people with disabilities. We target conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and design each new feature with keyboard users, screen reader users, and assistive-technology users in mind.
02 What we've done
Current accessibility features include:
- Semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) on every page.
- Skip links and visible focus styles so keyboard users can move through the app.
- Meaningful
alttext on informative images, and empty alt on purely decorative images. - Form labels paired with inputs via
htmlFor/idso screen readers announce what each field is for. - Color contrast on body text that meets WCAG AA against the surface colors (the Stitch design system's red on white and ink on surface-subtle both pass).
- Responsive layouts that reflow without horizontal scroll down to 320px.
aria-labelon icon-only buttons (close, dismiss, menu toggle) so assistive tech announces their purpose.
03 Known gaps
We're still a small team and haven't done a full third-party audit. Areas we know need more work:
- Some data tables (the ledger, the violations list) don't yet announce column headers cleanly in row-by-row screen-reader mode.
- Certain form validations surface error messages only visually; we're working toward
aria-describedbywiring so screen readers catch them too. - The feedback widget and PWA install banner rely on focus-trap patterns that may not be perfect across every browser + assistive-tech combination.
- Color-contrast on muted icon glyphs and some placeholder text hasn't been audited in dark mode.
We're prioritizing these as we hear from users. Reports help us rank; see below.
04 Report an accessibility issue
If you hit a barrier using SpotHOA, please tell us. Include the page URL, your browser and assistive technology (if any), and a short description of what didn't work.
- Email: accessibility@spothoa.com
- In-app feedback button (the floating red Feedback button on every non-admin page).
We aim to acknowledge reports within 3 business days and follow up with a remediation plan or workaround.
05 Reasonable accommodations
If the standard SpotHOA UI isn't accessible enough for you to accomplish a task, email accessibility@spothoa.com with what you're trying to do, and we'll work with you on an alternative. That might be a CSV export, a printable summary, a phone call with a board member, or another accommodation that works for you.
06 Alternative formats
Many of the records you'd normally review in-app are available as CSV (ledger, member list, dues) or PDF (meeting minutes, violation letters) through the export options on each section. If you need a specific document in an alternative format — for example, a plain-text version of a rich document, or a screen-reader-friendly version of a scanned PDF — email accessibility@spothoa.com and we'll help.
